are ready to serve you at D Coy Ducks.

Every town has one. It's the go to place for adults – a community meeting spot where you can have an adult drink, trash politicians and meet your friends. On Anna Maria Island that place is D Coy Ducks, our own little "Cheers."

Duck's is an old Island favorite for locals and visitors alike. Even if you've never been inside, it won't take long to feel right at home. Brad Lisk, one of the bartenders, grew up on Anna Maria, has been there for seven years and was twice voted bartender of the year in the Sun's Readers' Choice awards. Lisa O'Connell has been at Duck's 11 years tending bar and providing complimentary food and specialty cakes for patrons' milestone events. Richie Brown, the manager, is new to Anna Maria relocating from New Jersey over a year ago, but has gotten right into the grove of Island life. Finally, the owner is Mondher Kobrosly, a local island businessman, who lets Ducks be Ducks.

D Coy Ducks is a no smoking, full service bar with a wide selection of beverages. It also has a package liquor license for beer in any size. The one thing it doesn't have is food, at least not for sale. But don't let that stop you if you're hungry. You're welcome to bring your own or call one of the local Anna Maria restaurants, that are happy to deliver. Or you may be lucky enough to be there on one of those days when food donated by a customer just turns up. During football season, Ducks has an NFL package to watch on eight TVs, and bartender/cook extraordinaire Lisa O'Connell brings in half-time food every Sunday. There is never a charge for food, and there is never smoking.

D Coy Ducks is a special place, not only for its friendly and welcoming attitude, but it's also special because of the bands that are showcased in the bar. Every Friday and Saturday night there is live entertainment featuring local and statewide acts, many of whom have gone on to entertain at bigger venues. If you have the opportunity ask Brad List about Gregg Allman and his son. Duck's bandstand is accented with music posters and photos of bands and in keeping with the emphasis on music, there is a jukebox.

There's something going on in the bar the other five nights of the week also: Monday and Wednesday, poker; Tuesday, trivia; Thursday, solo artist; Sunday, Cribbage and beer pong. There is no charge for participating, and no money is exchanged on poker nights, just gifts and bar credits and the opportunity to participate in a quarterly tournament.

Drink specials are available from opening to 6 p.m. with $2.25 drafts and $3.50 well drinks. On Sunday there are Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials. Monday is Morgan day, Tuesday is Tito day, Wednesday is well day, Thursday is Margarita day, Friday is Fireball day plus $1.50 drafts and $2 well drinks between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday is bartender surprise night and $1.50 drafts and $2 well drinks from 6 to 9 p.m. And if that's not enough for you, there are a couple of games in the back room.

D Coy Ducks is always looking for a way to work with the community and recently hosted a benefit for J.D. White, collecting $15,000 to help him keep walking. And Brad Lisk has been a very well recognized Little League coach for years.

Stop in to this user-friendly bar where the focus is on locals, but they're also tourist friendly. Go to Ducks with your friends to watch a game or listen to music and have a great time where everybody knows your name.
