Art enthusiasts enjoy cool Springfest

When people wear jackets to Springfest, you know Anna Maria Island is getting a rare spring cool spell, just perfect for attending a festival.
The 28th Annual Springfest Festival of Fine Arts and Fine Crafts at the Holmes Beach City Hall Field was smaller this year because it was scheduled later in the season than usual – after Easter, when many visitors have returned north – and the same weekend as the Tarpon Springs Fine Art Festival, which features many of the same artists that Springfest hosts.
But without the crowds, all seemed to enjoy the crisp weather, music, food and art at the event, sponsored by the Anna Maria Island Art League.
Springfest and Winterfest are the major fund-raisers for the League, a nonprofit, tax deductible organization dedicated to fostering the arts on the Island. Funds from the festivals underwrite classes, exhibits and a variety of community programs.
