House Hunters comes to AMI

Anna Maria Island Sun News Story

ANNA MARIA – This house is too small, this house is too far from the water, but this one with the big yard…. is just right.

House Hunters on HGTV is all about finding the right home for the buyer, whose real estate agent usually has to add a dose of reality to the search for a dream home.

In three months, Spence and Jessie Romine and their 11-month-old, Marleigh, will be one of the featured families on House Hunters, looking for a home in Anna Maria.

The couple lives at their hotel, Sunrise Garden Resort, 512 Spring Ave., in Anna Maria, but with the arrival of Marleigh, and with their beagle sleeping in a walk-in closet, it's time to make the move to a house, they decided.

Also, said Spence Romine, "Business has been good, and we need to use our unit as a rental."

When Jessie Romine called House Hunters, they liked the story line of a family living in a hotel and thought it was unique, he said.

Island Broker Darcie Duncan, with Duncan Real Estate in Anna Maria, will help the couple with their hunt.

"It's the first time it's been on the Island," said Duncan, who will show the family three homes to choose from. "It's so exciting. It's just fun!"

A production crew is scheduled to film the episode later this month. The program, which has aired since 1999, also has featured house hunts in Bradenton and Sarasota.

Cindy Lane | Sun Marleigh, Jessie and Spence Romine, of Anna Maria's Sunrise Garden Resort, will be looking for a home in Anna Maria on HGTV's House Hunters later this year.
