Subject: The Pipes
Comments: I apologize to any and all I may have offended. The people have spoken. The recent audiences and applause indicate a majority enjoy the pipes. I will "relax" and move my sunset viewing spot. Even though I still believe rules are rules. And if it were a bunch kids playing rap music on boom boxes the majority would feel differently.

Subject: pipes are calling
Comments: Hi, I'm the 77th street bagpiper mentioned in the ami sun February 12. Since I wouldn't want to spoil someone's sunset, I think a good compromise is that I play immediately after the sun goes down and for fifteen minutes only. All would have a peaceful and quiet sunset, while allowing me to play for myself and my friends. Agreeable??
This is where and when I'll be for those who want to hear the pipes.. Amazing Grace, Over the Sea to Skye, Scarlet Ribbons, Highland Cathedral, Faith of our Fathers, Scotland the Brave and more !

Subject: The pipes are calling
Comments: If I may offer the writer a word of advice: RELAX.
The piper has been there for several years, and I gather is a popular sunset sight, and sound. Yes, you may have the code on your side, but 150 yards is a fair distance. Perhaps you could hone your diplomatic skills by asking him to move further toward the water to assuage your sensitivities.

Subject: "excessive noise" on the beach
Comments: I frequent the 77th st access in Holmes beach to view the sunset. Recently a bagpiper has chosen this spot to play his bagpipes as the sun sets. Actually that isn't totally accurate. He starts playing the bagpipes 20 minutes before the sun sets and stops only when the sun has set. I'm here for 3 months and the sun sets to me are a special time. One where an individual can reflect, or if one chooses to talk with friends or other sun set viewers. I live 150 yards from the beach, and I can hear the pipes from my house. To me that is "excessive noise" which is clearly prohibited and clearly stated on a sign as you enter the beach access. I really don't know what to do ? Call the police, walk a half a mile down the beach, talk to the individual and ask for a compromise. "How about you play ONLY from when the sun hits the water until it sets". I'm not really a good diplomat so I don't know if while talking to him I could avoid a critique of his bagpipe expertise. I would appreciate hearing from others as to what they think. Please Remember I'm here 3 months this isn't a "one night stand" with a sun set.

Subject: Trolley as Public Transporation
Comments: Clearly, a delayed trolley causes problems for the workers of Anna Maria Island. There is no solution to traffic delays, but a simple change of route can save it.
In both directions, the trolley should use Gulf Drive..the turn at Palm at Haley's Motel, offers a chance for ''Yield to Trolley '' Signs..big ones, to give the driver a chance (it's a 25 MPH Zone) to make the turn safely...AND the trolley should turn around at Bradenton Beach and come back to the AMI Pier...and not continue on to Coquina..let the other route continue to Coquina as a round trip. AND....there's a lot more which could be done..with more thought. I love the trolley, and I think the drivers need some support...let's get this done!!

Subject: Traffic Woes
Comments: It appears that SueLynn is more concerned with the tourist woes than the residents. What about owing it to our residents the ability to move from place to place? What about suggesting that the tourists coordinate their trips? This is the main problem with our governments on the island. They are all too concerned with the tourist dollar to the neglect of the residents. Park and ride won't work. The remote parking spots, with the exception.
of the Regions Bank, will not be utilized. Tourists will continue to pack the sidestreets

Comments: We are back in England and would love to know how the Tree House saga is going. It is lovely and hope they are able to keep it. We are back on our beloved AMI in September. Yippee!

Comments: We were down for several weeks at Thanks giving, Christmas and New Years. We had never tried before, but this trip we had occasion to try and ride the trolley to get around. We live on Key Royale and walked down to the stop on Marina Drive to pick it up. We waited over 45 minutes with kids for it to come. Is this typical of the wait for the trolley? If so, how is this a viable transit option, especially with the parking issues in town? It my be fun as a tourist attraction; people can ride round and look at things, but how is this any solution to transit issues?

Subject: Barefoot Tiki
Comments: It again appears that building official Tom O'Brien is flexing his bureaucratic muscle in an attempt to harass and intimidate well intentioned residents and property owners. O'Brien went after the tree house owners for a structure most believe is a beautiful addition to the island. Now his vindictive sights are set on the owners of the Barefoot Tiki. The tree house owners believed they were within the law as did the Barefoot Tiki owners. Both attempted to comply. Now there is a ridiculous laundry list of requirements he insists are necessary for compliance. You kids better keep your lemonade stands in the garage for fear of arbitrary persecution! The Barefoot Tiki is a wonderful and unique addition to our island. It should be treasured not retroactively prosecuted. Without these independent businesses we can expect to have more Chiles type rubber stamp restaurants. Help the business. That is what good stewardship is and should be.

Subject: Keep the Music at the Tiki Bar
Comments: Yes, please keep the music!! We are full time Holmes Beach residents and enjoy having a outdoor venue that supports live music and local business. How many people are actually disturbed by this - a handful?? What about rest of us that don't want to be inside in front of a tv? Turn up your tv volume until 10:00 pm and get over it!!!
