Selfish people sing a similar song
Your land is my land, and my land
Is my land, from the north tip of the island, to the Cortez causeway, this
land was made for just me.The whole
world gets an opportunity to see an
island of adults act like 5yr.olds
throwing tantrums.These people are
far from normal,there spoild brat's.
They are not smart enough to realize
that people sit back and laugh at them.

Comments: Bradenton Beach is a joke... the Mayor, Police Chief and City CLerk are quick to point fingers in every direction but their own. It is obvious the City Clerk is highly under qualified for that position and being well overpaid with taxpayers money. Why I ask?? Could it be beause she supported the power hungry newly elected Mayor?? Seems obvious to me. It is time for the people of Bradenton Beach to become tired of the misuse of their hard earned tax dollars and demand some accountablity from these elected officials and department heads that they seem to trust so much. There is a commissioner who is screaming to anyone who will listen the wrong doing that is going on in that city. But no other elected official will back her up. You should be asking why?? If they have nothing to hide why don't they prove her wrong. I'll tell you why.. because she is 100% right! Wake up Bradenton Beach, you have a beautiful city, do not let other people's greed spoil it for you all.

Subject: bp complaints
Comments: All of the complaints against bp by self righteous writers are laughable. These idiots are quick to consume bp's and other refiners products but talk out of the other side of their mouth about how terrible some beach debris is. Nevermind that if all beach trash was assessed the oil rig material would constitute less than 1% of it.

Maybe they should boycott the refinery products for a couple of months. They would not only be quite bored but also very hungry. It would be tough to grow your own food or fish off a bridge or rowboat for months on end.

Subject: Hotels
Comments: Its about time the city commission started controlling these motels. As far as noise. The "reports" at the department do not reflect the amount of calls. I was told at records that the deputy can write a report if desired. If the deputy writes a report it is indicated by a case number if not it is indicated by an event number. The officer can clear it either with a report of without a report.ONLY REPORTS ARE INDICATED as actual calls for service. The only way to trace them is through the dispatch logs. No tickets and no magistrates court indicate that nothing is being done. Its time to take back our city.

Subject: BP lawsuit
Comments: Fraud is what this is. 'Woth a shot' when you know perfectly well you were not negatively impacted is FRAUD!!
As you so rightly said the oil spill never reached Anna Maria Island. In fact it never came anywhere near. Far from being negatively impacted our tourism actually benefited from the oil spill. Why? Because as soon as the spill happened every public official from here to Tampa were out with their loud speakers encouraging people to visit here instead of LA as we were free of oil damage. So our tourism actually INCREASED as a result of the spill. Now before you all say well go for it if you can get it let me remind you this massive payout will in fact effect all our pockets in other ways. BP will find ways to get this back most likely in the price of gas down the line.
I am sick of hearing all the stories of people who jumped on the bandwagon and filed claims that they were negatively impacted which are outright lies.
Call it anything you like but it's fraud under any other name and it appears all three cities are guilty of this. Shame on you. Trying doing a day's work instead of scamming the system. This sums up everything that is wrong about this country.

Subject: Stolen conch shell
Comments: The local chainsaw artist stole my iPad, phone charger and conch shell that was given to me when my son was born in key west 27 yrs ago.he stole the shell to give to the man who blows the conch during the festivals. Everything he stole is replaceable except my conch shell that I want back. Just want everyone to know what he's really like cause he's still in your area carving and living on his boat. Thanks Charlie, real nice of you after letting you stay at my place when you were in ocala

Subject: Community Center
Comments: Kudos to Jean Peelen for calling out the Center's claim they put "proven community leadership" on their board. Totally agree that "some" are not respected or leaders, in fact one has said stated his goal is to turn our island into a total resort community. Thanks Jean for stating the obvious!

Subject: Attracting new residents and last weeks question
Comments: Seems somewhat contradictive. We want new residences, but we want to limit them to 3 bedrooms.

I'm probably the largest developer on this island in the last 20 years. There are only 2 things that should make a difference.
1. Require a parking space per bedroom. I guarantee you that will limit most homes to 4 bedrooms, as the large majority of lots on the island will not hold more spaces than 4 with impervious surface building footprint and drainage requirements.
2. Invoke a 24 hour per day noise ordinance and enforce it.

Subject: Cindy Thompson
Comments: It is clear Cindy Thompson wants to eliminate Adult sports at AMICC. She made the community convince her to keep the adult flag football. She held an open forum during a week in June called "Save adult flag football". If she was not convinced to keep it, she would eliminate it. Her reasons for not having the Summer Adult Flag League was… 1. The field, which is better than ever, 2. Interfering with fall sports, how? This league has gone on for plus 7 years and never disrupted fall sports, 3. MONEY!!!! I guess she forgot they were non profit and it’s a community center not a profit center.

She finally allows us to have a league, but demands that we play 2 games a week (back to back nights) to shorten the time frame of the league. What professional athletes play back to back nights?? None they all take a break, to prevent injuries. If you look back at the increase of injuries at AMICC, it is when they play back to back nights. There are also many people who cannot play 2 nights a week. This will eliminate a large amount of people who regularly play at AMICC. It also takes away what the league does for the social aspect of the community. Nobody will be able to get together after the games at slims, because we have to play the next night too. This is not good for our community and for some reason Cindy feels it is. Why take away what made you in the first place...the community!!! Might as well be called The Center and take out community.

Subject: Comm. Robertson
Comments: Oh I see its my old friend Papa Dan defending once again a shady Comm. Janie Robertson. If you remember she accused the public works dept of having city credit cards in their names with no proof to back that up. Not one shred of evidence to support that. And stated that they spent thousands and thousands of dollars. Now once again she is talking about the newly appointed City clerk without one piece of evidence to back it up again. She is the kind of person that throws crap around and sees what will stick. I would suggests to anyone to please ask for the info directly for proof of what she is claiming...YOU will be surprised what you find out. And as far as i see it ...Its the Commission that has only 1 Boso that loves to hear herself speak just to keep stirring the pot.... FYI the word around town is that she is apologizing for her statement!! I too Papa Dan cant wait to see what the next act will be as well...stay tuned for more Robertson Drama episodes!!

Subject: treehouse
Comments: Treehouse response… I recently found out about the tree house dispute and could not believe the response. A treehouse in the Merriam-Webster is defined as “a small house that is built among the branches of a tree for children to play in.” I personally classify myself as an adult child who never had a tree house but would love one. So I would love to add “children and adults” to the Merriam- Webster definition. How can anyone take such a precious memory away from a family? Even though we have codes, enforcements and permits can it be preserved? As in a tree’s rings it brings forth its life years… In ones hands that built the house… and heart that sees past the ever lasting waters it sits upon. Please see it in your hearts how important this treehouse may be to the family that supports it. Life is toooo short and can end in a matter of moments to linger on such precious treasures in life. Sometimes changes need to happen in life based on just watching an episode of “Treehouse Masters” on television and one may look upon this dispute at a new level of love.

Subject: Obama's new segregation policy
Comments: What do Anna Maria Islanders think about
Obama plans to segregate wealthy neighborhoods. They are going to be
able to buy any where in upper class
neighborhood through a special program.
The Island of rules will soon deal
With a less fortunate group of people.
Soon you will be forced to get some of
Flordia's poorest for neighbors.
