The Sun sports Game of the Week was an adult co-ed matchup between two undefeated teams. The Duffy's Tavern Buccaneers played the Jessie's Island Store Vikings in Community Center NFL Flag Football action.

The first half of play was a good old, gridiron, defensive stand-off. Jessie's Island Store Vikings started with the ball and for their first two possessions, it was three plays and out. The first possession of the Duffy's Buccaneers' team was also three plays and out. On Duffy's second possession though, it got two big pass interference calls that took it down to the one yard line. With first and goal, the Vikings defense held strong and didn't allow the Bucs to score.

On the next Vikings possession, Zach Garvin, of the Buccaneers, intercepted a second down pass and returned it into Vikings territory. Three plays later quarterback Mark Anderson hit Dustin Swain for a 10-yard touchdown. The point after was good when Anderson completed the pass to Swain again. On the very next play, Vikings quarterback Greg Ross handed off to Tim Shaughnessy, who ran 55 yards for the touchdown. The point after attempt was no good and made the score 7-6

Both defenses shut down the opposition. The Vikings used great flag pulling by Scott Rudacille with four, Josh Bernet with three, Kelly Joseph, Brianna Shaughnessy and Tim Tedesco all had one pull. The Bucs used interceptions by Zach Garvin with two; Tim Bennet and Jeremy Jackson each had one pick. The turning point of the game was when Garvin of the Bucs' defense got his second interception and returned it to the 10-yard line. With only four seconds left in the half, Bucs other quarterback, Jeremy Jackson, found Dina DeJesus in the middle of the end zone for the 10 yard touchdown. The one-point conversion was good when Jackson threw to Garvin for the score and the halftime lead 14-6.

Second half adjustments by the Duffy's offense proved too hot for the Vikings D. The Duffy's Tavern Buccaneers offense started to sizzle on their first possession and marched right down the field. Mark Anderson threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Zach Garvin. The extra point was no good and made the score 20-6. On the Bucs next offensive series, Garvin took the handoff and weaved through a host of Vikings defenders for a 50 yard touchdown run. The extra point was no good and made the score 26-6.

With three minutes and 30 seconds left in the game, the Vikings needed a touchdown desperately. Tim Shaughnessy answered with a big 45-yard run that took the Vikings down to the 10- yard line. The Bucs D held strong again and kept the Vikings from scoring when Jeremy Jackson came up with a big interception in the end zone. With only two minutes left in the game, "It was lights out and closing time at the tavern," when Anderson threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to Tim Bennet who made an incredible diving catch. The extra point was no good and made the score 32-6.

Like the true competitors they are, the Jessie's Vikings drove the ball down the field one last time. With no time left on the clock, Shaughnessy threw a 20- yard laser to Greg Ross in the corner of the end zone for the touchdown. The extra point was no good and the final score was 32-12 Duffy's Buccaneers.
