Two teams still unbeaten in AMICC flag football

As the season rolls along, the only two youth teams with a perfect record are the Tortilla Bay Dolphins of Division 3 and the Ross Built Raiders in Division 2, as each team earned another win this past week. The adult division has a two-way tie between the Raiders and Titans, who are both 3-0 this year. Monday, January 18
Division 2 (10-12)
Walter & Associates Titans 20 - Mr. Bones BBQ Bengals 15

A 136-yard game and two receiving touchdowns from Michael Duffman, along with another score by Joey Salinas, allowed the Titans to overcome a Bengals team that fought hard until the end. The Bengals were led by Logan Reiber, who had 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the tough loss.

Tuesday, Jan. 19
Division 3 (8-9)
Sandbar Saints 24 - BeachHouse Cardinals 12

The Saints managed to hold on to victory courtesy of a big game by Michael Latimer, who finished with 67 passing yards, 96 rushing yards, two touchdown and one interception. Andrew Proctor and Joe Rogers each had touchdown receptions as well to help the Saints, along with Leo Tilelli who picked off two passes on defense. The Cardinals top performers were Alex Buttram with 111 rushing yards and a touchdown and Masen Blandford who also ran for a score.

Division 2 (10-12)
Ross Built Raiders 22 - Mike Norman Realty Falcons 0

The Raiders remained in first place with a big game by Jack Shinn, who completed 10 of 13 passes for 111 yards and three touchdown passes. Sydney Cornell, Joey Cucci and Jake Ross were each on the receiving end of Shinn’s touchdown throws to round out the scoring. The Falcons were stifled on offense, but had solid games from Seth Walter and Morgan Greig.

Division 1 (13-16)
Anna Maria Oyster Bar Panthers 38 - Galati Yacht Sales Raiders 25

The Panthers were led to victory by quarterback Christian Hightower, who threw four touchdown passes and ran in one more to rack up the score. Hightower also intercepted two passes and returned one back for a defensive score. Jordan Grabski had two receiving touchdowns and an interception, along with Liam Cassidy and Nick Peters hauling in one touchdown pass each as well. The Raiders’ Michael Galati had a pair of rushing touchdowns, Chris Galati reached the end zone once and Aaron VanHook had an interception which he returned back for a score in the loss.

Wednesday, Jan. 20
Division 3 (8-9)
Tortilla Bay Dolphins 20 - Sparks Steel Art Eagles 12

Dylan Doyle led the Dolphins offense with 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Trent Shackelford helped with a short touchdown run to round out the scoring. Doyle along with Ethan Bertrand had interceptions to help shut down the Eagles scoring drives. The Eagles had individual rushing touchdowns by Dylan Joseph and Leo Rose, and Rose also picked off a pass on defense.

Division 2 (10-12)
Island Real Estate Ravens 18 - Holy Cow Cowboys 14

The Ravens managed to hold on for the victory thanks to a solid defense and a pair of long touchdown runs by Josh Zawistoski. Brandon Blandford finished with 52 receiving yards and a trip to the end zone on a pass by Zawistoski to round out the Ravens scoring. The Cowboys Zach Stewart completed 15 of 18 passes for 165 yards and two touchdown passes, one to Mikey Ellsworth and another to Austin Morrow, however, it was not enough as the Cowboys fell to 0-3 on the year.

Division 1 (13-16)
Tapes Tennis Titans 40 - LaPensee Plumbing Ravens 0

The Titans picked up their very-decisive second win on the season after shutting out the Ravens. Max Miller caught four touchdown passes for 112 yards, with three scores thrown by Austin Ferrer who also had a big game. Ferrer completed 5 of 11 passes for 97 yards and also ran for 52 yards with a touchdown to help out his team. Chandler Hardy finished with 77 total yards of offense, one touchdown and had a pair of two-point conversions to complete the Titans scoring on the day. The Ravens couldn’t accomplish much on offense, shown by interceptions from Ferrer and Hardy of the opposing Titans team.

Thursday, Jan. 21
Titans 8 - Lions 6

The Titans remain unbeaten after a very close game against the Lions who fell to 0-3. The Lions attempt to win the game came on the final drive when an incomplete pass on third down allowed time to expire. The Titans lone touchdown was a pass from Greg Ross to Blair Schlossberg, with the team also recording a safety to add an extra two points. Kevin Austin visited the end zone for the Lions on a short pass from Robert Cornell. Austin also added an interception on defense, but the Titans held on just long enough.

Adult Division
Chiefs 15 - Bengals 8

A tough defense, along with Jason Sato and Mark Anderson touchdown passes from Paul Kurtz, allowed the Chiefs to hold on in this low-scoring matchup. Kurtz also intercepted two passes on defense to help seal the deal for his team. Andy Jonatzke intercepted a pass and returned it back to the end zone to account for the Bengals touchdown, as they also received a safety to round out the scoring. The Chiefs improved to 2-1 with the Bengals falling to 1-2.

Adult Division
Raiders 37 - Cowboys 14

The Raiders’ Mark Richardson helped lead his team to victory by passing for 180 yards and three touchdowns and later running for a 30 yard score as well. Lance Plowman hauled in two of Richardson’s touchdown passes with Shawn Kaleta accounting for the third. Todd Zawistoski contributed with a short rushing touchdown and a defensive interception, which he ran back for a score as well. The Cowboys offense managed only 14 points, both on touchdown receptions by Jesse Brisson to round out their scoring. The Cowboys fell to 0-3 as the Raiders remain in first place at 3-0.
