Golf sponsors needed

Sponsors, raffle prizes and goodie bag gifts are needed for the first Anna Maria Island Community Center Golf Outing on Friday, Oct. 9, at IMG Academics Golf and Country Club, 4350 El Conquistador Parkway, Bradenton.

Sponsorships are Platinum, $1,500, eight players, golf and dinner; Gold, $1,000, four players, golf and dinner; Silver, $500, two players golf and dinner; Hole, $250, logo sign; Tee, $100, logo sign; and Friend, $50.

Registration and a putting contest will be held at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The fee is $175 per golfer or $600 per foursome for golf, range balls, beer and soft drinks and dinner.

Non-golfers are invited to join golfers for drinks and dinner at 5:30 p.m. for $45.

Funds will support the Center’s programs and scholarship funds so that no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.

Cheerleader training at Manatee H.S.

The Manatee High School Sugar 'Cane Dance team will host a clinic for third- through eighth-grade girls on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the MHS north gym.  The cost is $45, which includes lunch and a T-shirt.  The dancers will be taught a special routine by the Sugar 'Canes which they will perform at the Mr. Sugar 'Cane show on Nov. 14.
