Crawford, Slagh prevail in horseshoes

Three teams and a walker were waiting for the horseshoe pits when it was time to organize for another tournament on Wednesday, March 11. Four teams qualified for the playoffs by winning three games and losing none.

In the first game, John Crawford and Ron Slagh beat Debbie Rhodes and Bruce Monroe 21 – 6. In the second game, the walker, Art Kingstad, beat Leo Hutton and British visitor Ron Chance 24 – 9. Crawford and Slagh won the playoff game in a seesaw battle that ended 21-20.

Horseshoe tournaments are for anybody who wants to try. Join them on Saturdays and Wednesdays at the horseshoe pits on the ground of Anna Maria City Hall, 10005 Gulf Drive. Games begin at 10 a.m. and you need to be there 15 minutes in advance.
