Rotten Ralph’s, Ross Built take division titles

Dips Ice Cream had already sealed the deal going into this week and was crowned regular season Division I champion. Same scenario with Sand Dollar, a team that had dominated Division II all season. Undecided was the tussle between Rotten Ralph's and A Paradise Realty in the Premier Division, with Ralph’s clinching the title in its last game. Things were also tight in Division III as Jessie's Island Store and Ross Built toughed it out. Ross had the advantage by only needing to win its game without relying on other results. The playoffs also got under way Saturday as teams through all divisions looked to advance to the next round.

Feb 9

Division III
Jessie's 21, Coastal Orthopedic 7

Jessie's needed to win this if it was to stay in the hunt for the Division III crown. Three big forwards in Mickey Koczersut, Brandon Mills and Seth Walter were too much for Coastal to handle.

Division I
Island Family Physicians 38 Fronius 24

The Physicians came on strong in the latter part of the season and although the beginning of this encounter was a little tentative, it powered to victory here against a fairly organized Fronius. Kayla Armer led the charge and stayed busy throughout scoring 16 points.

Premier Division
Rotten Ralph's 37, B’ton Prep 25

Bradenton Prep's strength comes in the shape of Edward Brown and Jason Shkodnic, who had 22 of the team’s 25 points. Ralph's Matt Bauer had 21 points, Blake Rivers had eight and Chandler Hardy scored six. Ralph's clinches the Premier Division title with this win.

E Training Solutions, 30 Panaramic 17

Blaine Jenefsky led the scoring for E Training with 17 points, while Panaramic’s Jake Parsons scored a respectable seven.

Division I
Island Family Phys. 47, Dips 46

Dips went into this game as Division I champs but ran into a determined and improving Physicians squad in a game that went down to the wire. A well-deserved victory for Island Family Physicians.

Feb 11

Division III
Ross Built 16, Air & Energy 6

Ross Built needed the win here to clinch the title. Jake Ross was on fire offensively, scoring 10 points, brother Andrew had four and Gavin Sentman had a basket. Ross ends the season as Division III champions.

Division II
Sand Dollar 29, Observer 23

A valiant effort from Longboat Observer against runaway leaders and division champs Sand Dollar. For Longboat, Joey Salinas scored six, while. Sand Dollar’s firepower came via Cameron Brauner, who had 15 and Burke McCampbell- Hill with 9.

Premier Division
A Paradise 25, Bradenton Prep 24

A Paradise went into this one knowing a win would secure second place while a loss would see it slip to third. End to end it, was Patrick Edwards for A paradise with 12 and Troy Koszewski with a helpful seven. Bradenton Prep’s Edward Brown had 15.

The playoffs got under way Saturday at the Community Center and first up was Premier Division second place finisher A Paradise against third placed Bradenton Prep. Edward Brown once again proved his worth, scoring 23 for a depleted Prep squad. It failed to contain A Paradise’s Kyle Aritt, who led all scorers with 24. Teammate Kyle Sewall added 12 and Troy Koszewski had 10 points. In the other Premier playoff game it was division champs Rotten Ralph's up by 11 at the half against Island Real Estate, but it was no pushover. Matt Bauer was the leading scorer with 21 as Ralph's moves on to meet A Paradise in the final, which was to have been played Monday, Feb. 16.

In Division I, Island Family Physicians did most of the damage against Fronius in the first half. The team jumped out to a 15 - 2 lead in the first quarter and sailed to victory 46-18, advancing to the final against Dips on Tuesday, Feb. 17. In Division II, E-Training Solutions kept its playoff hopes alive with a victory against Longboat Observer. Blaine Jenefsky and Logan Rieber did most of the damage in the 15 -5 victory. A closer game in Division III saw second place Jessie's Island Store edge out third place Air & Energy 18-14.
