‘Shoe pits filled despite weather

Wednesday, 4 Feb. we had all pits occupied and four teams standing by, despite the cold. Three teams qualified for the playoffs. Al Norman and partner Mark Kennedy luckily won the bye. Nick Sianato, an 80-year-old visitor from New Jersey and John Johnson lost in the preliminary to Adin Shank and Art Kingstad 25 to 17, and went on to defeat Norman and Kennedy 23 to 19.

Saturday, Feb. 7, the temperature warmed and all five pits were full and we had seven teams waiting. Four teams had the required three wins. Fellow New Hampshire visitors Bob Lee and Mike Lovy skunked Debbie Rhodes and Tom Skoloda 23 to 0, and Norm Good and Robert Sheating defeated Bob Brown and Al Norman 21 to 15. In the final the New Hampshire duo defeated Good and Sheating 24 to 11. This game saw many ringers and was worth the wait.

Play gets underway each Wednesday and Saturday, in the pits located behind Anna Maria City Hall. All are welcome.
