Golfers enjoy summer weather

The golfers at Key Royale Club don’t need the Weather Channel to tell them how unseasonably warm it’s been lately. They’re out there every chance they get.

Nell Bergstrom, Earl Huntzinger, Fred Meyer and a proxy came in first in the co-ed handicap tournament on Friday, Dec. 26, with a score of 90. Second place went to Frances Smith-Williams, Terry Westby, Jim Finn and a proxy with a 93.

Three teams tied for first place in the men’s nine-hole handicap tournament on Monday, Dec. 29. Greg Shorten and Gary Harris, Tom O'Brien and Dave Kruger and Art Doudera and Dick Eichhorn all shot 28. Second place went to Al Morgan and Bob Dickinson and Bob Jorgensen and John Driscoll with scores of 29.

Bob Dickinson took first place in the men’s 18-hole handicap tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 31, with a score of 62. Jim Mixon came in second with a 64 and Greg Shorten came in third with a 66. Three players, Dick Grimme, Chris Collins and Tom O’Brien, tied for fourth with scores of 67.
