It was a morning for standing in the sun as the cold from the overnight low still lingered, but it didn’t chill the crowds that gathered to wave at the floats and automobiles in the Privateers annual Christmas Parade last Saturday. The Privateers led the processions from Bay Front Park in Anna Maria to Coquina Beach, throwing candy and beads from their ship. Santa was near the end of the parade in his sleigh. When they got to the beach, St. Nick listened to what the kids wanted for Christmas as they sat in his lap.
No snow or fireplaces for Santa on Anna Maria Island, just a place to enjoy the sun before he makes his rounds on Christmas Eve.
