With new greens and other improvements, Key Royale Golf Club members are having more fun than ever in their weekly tournaments. With season coming soon, the ranks of golfers are down and the tournaments had proxies to even the score.
On Friday, Aug. 27, Jeanette Cashman, Francis Smith-Williams, Don Ledford and a proxy came in first in the weekly co-ed, handicap tournament with a low team net score of 96. Joyce Brown, Jim Finn, Sue Hookom and a proxy came in second with a 97.John Driscoll shot a chip-in on the ninth hole.
In the men’s weekly 9-hole handicap tournament on Monday, Sept. 1, the team of Ralph Bassett, Austin Rice, Fred Meyer and Bill Snyder took first place with a best-ball-of-foursome score of 28. Matt Behan, Richard Westby and two proxies took second place with a 30.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, John Atkinson, Chris Collins, Dick Grimme and Bob Kelly took first place in the men’s weekly 18-hole handicap tournament with a best-ball-of-foursome score of 51. Lew Wingarden, Bob Elliott and two proxies came in second with a 52.
