Mies van der Rohe adopted the motto "less is more" to describe the fundamentals of his architecture. Less is more can also be applied to scale – the scale of a home, an expensive piece of jewelry or a development. Old Bridge Village in Bradenton Beach is an exceptional example of less is more – a few residential units surrounded by lush landscaping creating luxury on a small scale.
Old Bridge Village is located on the water in Bradenton Beach at Bay Drive South between Third Street South and Fourth Street South, just steps from Bridge Street. The small complex of 11 residential units and two offices was built in 2004 on what was formerly the site of one of Anna Maria’s most charming residential spots. The new Old Bridge Village replaced the old Old Bridge Village, which was comprised of small cottages surrounded by lush Florida landscaping.
Much of the original landscaping has been retained and transplanted, maintaining the sumptuous, snug feel of the original site. Fountains and low white fencing continue to enhance the village feel. A heated lap pool is available for residents and every unit at Old Bridge Village comes with a boat slip on the bay with easy access to sailboat water.
The units are designed with open floor plans, 10-foot ceilings, large windows and balconies with views of Sarasota Bay. They have top of the line appliances, kitchens with granite, stone and high end cabinets and crown molding all encased by detailed and interesting Key West influenced architecture. There are both townhouse units on three levels and condominium units on one, with private under building parking.
The original asking prices at Old Bridge Village in 2004, started at $750,000 and went well over a million. There have not been any re-sales since 2004, and currently four are on the market with asking prices ranging from a high of $1,485,000 to a low of $925,000.
For the discriminating luxury buyer, Old Bridge Village offers taste, style and amenities on a scale not often found in the Florida condominium market. At Old Bridge Village, less is more with the emphasis on more casual elegance.
