Beach and bay views at Bermuda Bay Club

Townhouse condos at Bermuda Bay Club offer spectacular sunsets,
space and privacy.
One of the advantages of living in a beautiful beach community is that you may be away from family but never for too long. Once family and friends visit you can count on them returning. And what’s even better than having them visit is having them rent their own place, especially if its one as great as the Bermuda Bay Club in Bradenton Beach.
Built in 1999, the Bermuda Bay Club features townhouse condos located at 1401 Gulf Drive North on the bay side of Gulf Drive. The two rows of townhouses line the main road running through to the end of the complex between Gulf Drive and the bay.
Since the beach is right across the street and there aren’t any buildings at this point on Gulf Drive, the units closer to Gulf Drive have the best beach and sunset views. However, the units at the end of the row on the bay also have nice views of the Intracoastal and the mainland.
There are three levels with a tandem two-car garage and private driveway on the ground level. One level up is the great room living area with access to two decks, one off the living room and one off the dining room, kitchen, washer/dryer and half bath. The master bedroom is upstairs with a full bath and small balcony, plus two other bedrooms and another full bath.
Total under air living space is a very comfortable 1,524 square feet. There is a pool and hot tub at the end near the bay, as well as a walkway through the mangroves leading to a lovely deck overlooking the Intracoastal.
The original buyers paid in the mid $200,000s, and when I last profiled this complex in 2002, units were selling in the $400,000s. In early 2007, there were two sales $985,000 and $785,000, but none recorded so far this year. Two are currently listed with asking prices reflecting the downturn of the market, one at $695,000 and one at $685,000.
Many of the units are in a rental pool with local brokers starting at $950 a week and $2,850 a month for the summer, and $1,500 a week and $4,500 a month for the winter.
My family loved its one month stay at Bermuda Bay Club. The sunsets were perfect, you could practically roll out of bed onto the beach, and there was space and privacy even when all the bedrooms were filled. Best of all, Aunt Louise was within shouting distance. Bermuda Bay Club is another wonderful Anna Maria property to rent or purchase, especially when those you love come a knocking.
