BUSINESS

Stop by for fresh produce and more

The Historic Bridge Street Merchants Association hosts the third Farmer’s Market on Historic Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Up to 35 vendors will showcase their goods and services. Displays will include local and regional arts and craft items, locally grown plants and flowers, fruits and vegetable produce from area farmers and suppliers and naturally made home products. There will also be several booths dedicated to the ever-popular "Going Green" and "Being Organic" concepts.

Expect plenty of fun for kids including a hula hoop and paddle ball contest, face painting and music. Local restaurants will provide early morning and afternoon food and beverages for market goers throughout the day. There will be a chef demonstration by Chef Darrell Mizell from the Sun House restaurant with free samples of his culinary creations.

The Bridge Street Merchants Association began hosting monthly Farmer’s Markets in February and they have become so popular that the public is asking to have them every week.

"We will have to see if Bradenton Beach city officials will OK it, but we are excited and prepared to host it at least twice a month, if not every week," said Caryn Hodge, Chiles Group marketing manager and merchant member "The vendors and the locals are asking for it, and we should know by May 1."
