Island Sun wins six statewide awards
The Island Sun has won six awards, including two for first place, in the Florida Press Association’s 2007 Display Advertising Contest.
The statewide competition is open to all member newspapers in Florida and is divided into categories for dailes and weeklies.
Sun graphic artists Elaine Stroili and Jocelyn V. Greene combined with Sun Advertising Director Chantelle Lewin in creating and selling the six winning entries.
Greene and Lewin won a first place award for Best Use of Color in an ad for Two Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe, while Stroili and Lewin teamed up for first place in the Best Home Builder Ad category for an ad for J.E. Murray.
Stroili also was the artist on two second place finishes - one for best Creative Use of the Newspaper”in a Sun promotional ad and another for Best Use of Clip Art” in an ad titled “Going Out?”
Greene was the artist in The Sun’s second place award in the Clothing Store category in an ad done for Irene’s Resort Wear. She also picked up a third place award in the Entertainment and Dining category for an Andiamo Ristorante Italiano ad.
