For some reason, Anna Maria Island seems to attract people with the ability to think outside of the box, and when these people open businesses you’re guaranteed a unique experience. For 10 years, Danielle Sewall has provided massage and day spa services to Island visitors and residents. But with the opening of Body & Sol Spa and Wellness she has transcended traditional day spa services by designing a potpourri of pampering, wellness and more.

With a lot of late nights and elbow grease, Sewall converted the space above Ginny & Jane E’s at the old IGA into a warm homey environment which makes you want to plop down into one of her many comfortable chairs. In fact many of those chairs and much of the other furniture is for sale, an extension of Ginny & Jane E’s inventory. But that’s just the beginning of what makes Body & Sol different from other spas you have been to.

Sewall had a vision of being able to offer people not only spa services but also wellness services, which is exactly what she has done in her new location. Essentially she has pulled together complimentary independent businesses that are able to interact and work together under one roof. Sewall is the owner of the massage and spa part of Body & Sol, offering a full menu of massage treatments in her four treatment rooms, nail services, facials, waxing and eyebrow and lash tinting. In addition, she has partnered with two other women to provide wedding consulting and yoga services.

Chris Tollette, who is also an Anna Maria City Commissioner, is her partner in Sol Wedding Consultants. With Anna Maria Island fast becoming one of the country’s wedding destination hotspots, Sewall and Tollette expect to be busy working with brides and grooms to assist them in customizing the wedding they want whether they need full scale planning or just a few hours of advice.

Cindy Phillips oversees the Island Yoga Space part of the business offering a variety of classes in Body & Sol’s yoga studio. There are day and evening classes for both novice and experienced individuals, with themes changing on a monthly basis.

Since Body & Sol’s emphasis is on wellness as well as relaxation, they plan on offering workshops, lectures and demonstrations to educate women about the benefits of a well-rounded wellness philosophy. Along those lines, Tricia Graziano who is known on Anna Maria for her acupuncture services, will also be available for acupuncture treatments at Body & Sol.

In addition to a full range of spa services for individuals and wedding parties, Sewall will be offering wellness parties for kids for birthdays, graduations or other events. Her goal is to teach kids in a fun, pampering environment about healthy food, skin care, yoga and makeup techniques.

Sewall journeyed for an entire year to fulfill her dream of a spa and wellness center where she hopes people will want to come and just "hang out." As her friend and partner, Chris Tollette says, "Danielle is Mother Earth." If you need a little mothering or just a friendly face, visit Body & Sol Spa & Wellness, and see what happens when you think outside of the box.
