The Manatee County Conservation Lands Management Department is holding another fun event in a preservation area on Anna Maria Island, one that might be going to the dogs.
Enjoy a healthy, after-work hike through Leffis Key, south of Bradenton Beach, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20. The group will meet in the parking lot at 6 p.m.
They will walk at a hiker’s pace through the shelled pathways and boardwalks that take you over the bay amid mangrove roots that form the breeding ground for sea life. The trek will end with a short walk up the Leffis Key overlook.
This is a moderate to strenuous hike. The group will move at a fairly rapid pace and will cover approximately one mile. Socialized dogs on leashes are welcome to participate. Just don’t forget your pooper scoopers.
Reservations are required, so e-mail sharon.tarman@co.manatee.fl.us or call 748-4501, ext. 4615.
