Unique is defined as being the only one or being without equal. All of Anna Maria Island qualifies and who wouldn’t argue that Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach is one of a kind. Adding even a little more color to the already colorful Bridge Street is Vinjavagar at BridgeWalk, a truly unique experience.

For four years, Vinjavagar has been a fixture on Bridge Street as part of the successful BridgeWalk complex. The mother and daughter team of Barbara and Angela Rodocker conceived of Vinjavagar to fill a need for a coffee shop on Bridge Street that would be compatible with the other businesses. Barbara Rodocker is the developer and owner of BridgeWalk, a Landmark Resort, and Angela Rodocker is the general manager of The Sun House restaurant at BridgeWalk.

What makes Vinjavagar different from other coffee shops is what’s beyond the front door. Linda Haack the director of sales and marketing for BridgeWalk describes Vinjavagar as a quaint, cute little store — sort of an eclectic coffee shop. Vinjavagar offers not only the popular Barnie’s Coffee but also wine and cigars, hence the name: vin for wine, java for coffee and gar for cigars.

At Vinjavagar, you can enjoy a cappuccino, espresso, latte, chocolate drink or tea as well as a mini-breakfast or pastries at one of the outside tables. Of course, you can take home the exclusive Barnie’s coffee in a variety of flavors, including the year ’round popular Santa’s White Christmas coffee, and gourmet tea mixtures.

As good as the coffee is, the "vin" part of Vinjavagar shouldn’t be missed. The Rodocker’s are always on the lookout for unusual wines from small wineries, both domestic and imported. They carry select wines that aren’t available in grocery and big box stores, and are continually tweaking their inventory from feedback received during The Sun House restaurant’s wine dinners.

If cigars are your thing you can purchase them at the "gar" part of Vinjavagar. There is a diverse selection from small to large, domestic to imported and even a slim ladies’ cigar.

Year ’round, but especially for the holidays, Vinjavagar carries gift baskets that would make great hostess gifts for holiday parties or stocking stuffers for the wine-coffee-cigar lovers in your family. There is even a children’s gift basket with cookie mix and cookie cutters with an island theme.

On an island already chock full of variety and uniqueness, Vinjavagar has raised the bar by offering a fusion of products not seen before. Visit the Rodocker’s experiment in uniqueness this Saturday night during the Bridge Street Christmas Prelude or the next time you’re strolling on Bridge Street. It will stimulate your imagination.
