The Women’s Resource Center of Manatee recently received a donation from The Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island. The check for $625 has been designated to cover the cost of two participants in the Center’s Life Launch Program, which is a comprehensive curriculum for women to enhance employability. The purpose of the program is to provide a safe setting for women to explore their values, strengths and challenges, learn employment strategies, set goals, and create an action plan to move forward. The first component of Life Launch is an interactive five-day workshop followed by one-on-one sessions with an employment strategy coach to fine tune job search skills and plans and to provide encouragement in achieving employment goals. The last component is access to other services provided at the Women’s Resource Center such as a career closet for interview clothes and computer classes. Women wishing to register for Life Launch should call 747-6797.
