Hare-itage Day fun
Beautiful weather helped with the turnout for the Anna Maria Historical Society’s Heritage Day celebration, according to Historical Society Executive Director Sissy Quinn.

“It was a wonderful day,” she said. “We’re still processing, but we know the proceeds are better than last year.”

Quinn said she got a lot of help putting together her first event since taking the position.

“It’s really nice how the community came together,” she said. The Chamber of Commerce and the Community Center helped us a lot also.”
She said the only problem was they could not get more than two food vendors, and both of them served kettle corn.

She singled out John Zachman, who helped tremendously in getting the Belle Haven House ready for the celebration. Zachman also volunteered his time two years ago after they moved the historic house next to the city jail and Historical Society headquarters. Quinn summed up the event as a culmination of participation by many parties.

“It was a good will day,” she said.
