We all know that not everything in life goes as planned.
There certainly are times when you or a family member
may require help from a perfect stranger, and the way
that stranger relates to us can make all the difference.
Beauty Plus is a shop that sells forms, bras and swimwear
for women who have undergone a mastectomy. The owners,
Dennis and Audrey Kow, understand that the personal
touch in a very personal business is essential in making
the customer feel confident and comfortable.
|
They come to the business with a full understanding and
appreciation of cancer and its related problems, since
their son has been battling the disease for many years.
This knowledge combined with their religious beliefs -
Dennis Kow is the senior warden at the Christ Anglican
Fellowship Church and Audrey Kow is in the choir - helps
them to provide a necessary service in addition to uplifting
spirits.
Unlike conventional medical supply stores, Beauty Plus
is a cheerful, intimate apparel shop with pink walls,
private dressing room and comfortable chairs. In addition
to mastectomy merchandise, they also sell wigs and quality
bras for the hard to fit figure. Audrey Kow is a certified
fitter trained by the manufacturers and required by Medicare.
They are Medicare approved, process all insurance claims,
and assist customers who dont always know they may
qualify for insurance benefits.
Beauty Plus is the only store in Bradenton that offers
these services and lingerie of this type. Some of the
manufacturers they carry are; Goddess, Aviana, LeMystere,
Anita, Freya, Fantasie and Glamorise.
The Kows have lived in Bradenton for more than 10 years
and were born in Jamaica, which may account for the soft
manner and unhurried approach to their business. Audrey
Kows mission is to make women look good and feel
good about themselves; they both sincerely want to provide
the best possible experience to their customers, and thats
what makes a difference.
