Anna Maria resident Katie Field has captured
two state equestrian titles in the Central Florida Hunter
Jumper Association.
Katie won the short stirrup hunter and short stirrup equitation
division championships and took home two statewide memorial
trophies in the process. The first was the James Brundage
Memorial trophy for winning the short stirrup division. The
second was the Raye P. Wadsworth Perpetual Memorial trophy,
which she received for being the overall points winner in
the equitation division statewide.
Katie, 12, rode her pony, Going Grey, to numerous victories
at horse shows throughout the season, including a Grand Champion
finish at the huge HITS (Horseshows In The Sun) competition
in Ocala.
Katies brother, Connor, also rode Going Grey this season.
Connor finished as Reserve Champion locally in the combined
Walk-Trot division in his first year of competition.
Katie and Connor are the children of Sun Publishers Maggie
and Mike Field. Their pony, Going Grey, is owned by Jillian
Cacchiotti, daughter of Saint and Rick Cacchiotti, of Bradenton.
Jillian won Reserve Champion this year in the CFHJA Equitation
division. All ride and train at Snaffles Farm with Lorna Conway
and Ann Thal.
