Watercolor demonstration at Island Gallery

will demonstrate his painting technique at Island Gallery
West on Jan. 15.

Douglas Teller will demonstrate
watercolor painting in the Island Gallery West of Holmes Beach
from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 15.
Teller was born in Battle Creek, Mich., received a BA from Western
Michigan Univeristy, studied painting and art history at Michigan
State Univeristy and taught at public schools while studying
art history and archaeology at the Catholic University of America.
The urge to do studio work prompted a transfer to George Washington
University, where he received an MFA, and he began teaching
there in 1962. He achieved Professor Emeritus status at GWU
after 35 years of teaching design, printmaking and watercolor
painting.
He has traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and the
U.S. and has taught workshops abroad and in the U.S. His home
is in Sarasota, and he is an active member of the Florida Suncoast
Watercolor Society, the Florida Watercolor Society, the Florida
Artists Guild and the Southern Watercolor Society and
is listed in Whos Who in American Art.
The Gallery, a cooperative of nearly 30 local artists, is located
at 5368 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
