BRADENTON BEACH – Island Time Bar and Grill and the Bridge Street Bistro host their seventh annual Never Forget 9/11 fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 9 from noon until 4 p.m.
Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit the Manatee Emergency Services Memorial Fund. The fund assists local emergency personnel and their families and helps with the annual memorial event along the Bradenton Riverwalk. Last year’s event raised $5,000.
“It’s a great way to show our appreciation for the people that do so much for us. And Hurricane Harvey is a perfect example of first responders putting their lives on the line to rescue people,” Island Time owner Bill Herlihy said. “That’s exactly why we do this: to make people aware of what they do for us, to thank them for what they do, and to raise funds for them.”
This year’s fundraiser features the traditional all-you-can-eat buffet, complete with complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks. The buffet is free for active and retired firefighters, police officers, EMTs and military personnel and one guest. A valid ID that reflects past or present service is required.
The general public can also enjoy the buffet that doubles as a fundraiser. Buffet tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Additional fundraising activities include a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and a silent auction.
Those who pass on the buffet can still enjoy $2.35 Bud Lights, $4 house wines, $3 well drinks and $4 Malibu drinks. True Blue, a band consisting of local firefighters, will play.
