Sequel kicks off Island Players season

ANNA MARIA – The curtain opens on the Island Players’ 69th season with “Happy Birthday,” a sequel to “Boeing Boeing,” both by Marc Camoletti.

The Island Players performed “Boeing Boeing” two seasons ago and two of those performers will be in “Happy Birthday.” Travis Rogers will again play Bernard and Jennifer Eddy will play Jaqueline. Island Players director James Thaggard will play Robert, Travis Rogers plays Bernard, Sue Belvo plays Brigit #1 and Jennifer Caldwell is Brigit #2.

In “Happy Birthday,” Bernard asks his new mistress to his home on her birthday despite the fact that his wife and best friend will also be there. Soon identities and bedrooms are exchanged with increasing confusion. This is a fun-filled farce with many twists and turns of the script and wild and wacky roles. Under the experienced directorship of Mike Lusk, “Happy Birthday” is sure to be a must see.

“Happy Birthday” opens on Sept. 21 and runs until Oct. 1. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 each. The Box Office opens on Monday, Sept. 11 and is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. On performance nights, the box office opens at 7 p.m. and for Sunday matinees, it opens at 1 p.m. Visa, MasterCard or Discover are accepted.

For reservations or information, call the box office at 941-778-5755 or visit Island Players.  Season tickets are still for sale online; print the form and mail it to The Island Players, P.O. Box 2059, Anna Maria, FL 34216.
